A number of years ago we sent off a series of promo emails for a seminar. The first one landed well, so we figured the rest would follow suit. But we stopped paying attention mid-campaign and missed the slide in open rates. A quick check-in could have helped us adjust earlier and get back on track.
In sport, halftime is where the magic happens. Coaches review what’s working and what’s not and make small but critical adjustments. Without halftime, teams would just repeat the same mistakes for 80 minutes.
As leaders, we need those “halftime moments.” It could be a mid-project check-in, a quick weekly review, or even pausing mid-conversation to ask, “Are we on track here?”
This week’s challenge:
Build a halftime into your leadership rhythm. Don’t wait for the final whistle to adjust.
